Joanna Thomas is a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon who joined the University Hospital Southampton in August 2016.

She completed a paediatric orthopaedic fellowship at University Hospital Southampton under Professor Clarke, Mr Uglow and Miss Edwards. Following her higher surgical training at the Royal London Hospital, she undertook visiting fellowships in various centres of excellence to further her expertise in sports injuries.

Joanna now runs a weekly sports injuries clinic and has a specialist interest in knee and shoulder injuries. Working closely with a specialist physiotherapist and multidisciplinary team, Joanna's goal is to deliver the highest level of care to her patients. Every patient she treats for sports injuries is given a personalised rehabilitation programme to maximise their recovery potential.

Joanna has set up a sport injuries clinic at University Hospital Southampton that offers specialist physiotherapy and a complete multidisciplinary team. She maintains a keen interest in mountaineering, and summitted Mount McKinley, Alaska, in 2005. She has taken part in and led other mountaineering expeditions to the Alps, the Andes and the Arctic.
