
Associate Professor John O’Donnell is an Orthopaedic Surgeon, and founding member of Hip Arthroscopy Australia, who works in Richmond, Victoria, Australia, and specialises in the treatment of conditions of the hip joint, including both arthroscopic hip surgery and hip arthroplasty.
He performs surgery at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, East Melbourne, and performed his first hip arthroscopy in 1990. He now has performed more than 10,000 hip arthroscopies. He is a Past-President, and a founding member, of both the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA) and the Australian Hip Arthroscopy Society (AHAS), and is both the convenor and Chairman of the biannual Melbourne International Hip Arthroscopy Meeting.
He has a particular interest in the treatment of young adult hip disorders, including Femoro-Acetabular Impingement, hip instability, and ligamentum Teres injuries, and has published widely on these subjects in international peer-reviewed journals, as well being regularly invited to speak at both Australian and International conferences. John is married to Linda, and has five children. Outside orthopaedics his major interests are bushwalking, cycling and travel.
