Darren Fern

Darren Fern was appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust in July 1995.

He developed the Cornwall Hip Surgery Service, offering a wide range of expertise ranging from neonatal hip screening through to revision hip surgery. In conjunction with his specialist hip surgery colleague, Mr Mark Norton, his work became focussed on new methods of hip preservation surgery, minimally invasive pelvic osteotomies, hip resurfacing and replacement in high demand young adults.

Increasingly, the focus of most of his surgical procedures is on young adult hip disorders using minimally invasive and arthroscopic hip surgery (FAI and Periacetabular osteotomies), offering low risk, rapid recovery approaches to a wide range of hip problems.
